Week 2... Part 1 of 3 Chess Squares

This week was one of those weeks where I just had to bake.  Everyday I receive the newsletter in my in-box from Kevin and Amanda.  This week, there were TWO recipes she shared.  Not only did these recipes look good, but they were EASY!  Less than six ingredients, and hardly any dishes.  Now this is my kind of baking!  The first recipe they shared was for Chess Squares.  I am not sure why they are called Chess Squares, when they look nothing like chess squares.  This is a dessert recipe that only takes 5 ingredients, 10 min preparation, and 45 mins in the oven... A MUST try....

Chess Squares

1 box yellow cake mix
3 eggs
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
4 cups (1 lb) powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 300 and spray a 9×13 dish with cooking spray. Mix cake mix, melted butter and one egg to a soft dough. Press into the bottom of the pan. Mix powdered sugar, softened cream cheese and remaining two eggs until smooth, about 1-2 mins. Pour on top of crust. Bake at 300 for 40-50 minutes until top is golden brown.

First you take the yellow cake, softened butter, and one egg, and mix until well blended
Spray a 9x13 inch pan, and pat the mixture to the bottom of the pan

In the same (or a different) bowl, add 4 cups powdered sugar, 2 eggs, and cream cheese until smooth.

It should look something like this!

Then poor the mixture on top of the yellow cake crust already in the pan.

Place in the oven at 300 degrees for about 45 mins or until golden brown.  Its done when you see something like this.

Romeo smells goodness!

Bon Appetit!
